Key Information

There are certain steps and procedures which need to be followed when a loved one sadly passes away. The process will be different depending on whether the death has occurred at home, a care home, in hospital or at a hospice and if the death is expected or sudden. We would recommend you call one of our funeral homes (phone number at top of page) or head office on 01384 569569 as soon as possible following a death. Further advice and support is also available by clicking here.

The support and care to you and your family starts as soon as we begin to arrange your loved one’s funeral. We will take care of any questions you have leading up to the funeral and on the day take care of everything with a dedicated funeral director to look after you. They will travel with your loved one in the funeral cortege, oversee the service and return you to the wake. For further information on what happens on the day of the funeral please read our guide here.

The cost of a funeral can vary depending on the type of funeral and service you would like for your loved one. We offer a number of funeral packages with prices starting from £1900.00 for a simple funeral. Our packages and price list are available to view here or we recommend you contact us to discuss in more detail, and we will be able to give you a bespoke cost for the total funeral.

A traditional funeral is usually held at a crematorium chapel or a religious venue and includes elements such as hymns, readings, music and eulogies. A traditional funeral is different from a simple funeral as they typically include the preparation, dressing and viewing of the deceased as well as a higher quality coffin and travel arrangements for the family. A direct unattended cremation is a simple option where the cremation takes place without a formal service or any mourners present. Also known as an unattended funeral, there is no ceremony, and the deceased is not prepared for viewing beforehand. Whilst no formal service is part of a direct cremation, there are ways to include a personal farewell either before or following the cremation. More information on direct cremations is available here.
